6-149 Basements.
Rules and regulations pertaining to construction standards for habitable space in basements shall be as follows:

6-150 Crawl spaces.
Heated crawl spaces with insulated foundation walls and a permanent vapor barrier are exempt from the ventilation requirements of Section 2516(c)6.

6-151 Vapor barriers.
When foam plastic insulation board is installed on the outside of an exterior frame wall a vapor barrier shall be installed on the interior of the wall or an approved vent strip shall be installed with the foam board.

6-152 Permit to use street.
Any person desiring to temporarily use a street, sidewalk, or alley, as provided in this code, shall first obtain a permit from the building official, and in addition shall pay for the use of such space, a fee as set forth in section 6-116.4(f).

6-153 Agreement to use adjoining property.
No person shall use a wall or any part of a building on adjoining property or build, remove or underpin any party wall without having first entered into a written agreement with the owner of the adjoining property. Such party agreement shall be properly recorded with the register of deeds and the building official shall be advised that such record has been duly made and recorded.

6-154 Wood and other solid fuel burning fireplaces and appliances.
Any time a wood or other solid fuel burning fireplace or appliance is installed in a residential unit or structure, any existing or subsequent gas fired equipment shall be provided with outside combustion air at the rate and by the method required by the mechanical code; provided, however, that the code requirements shall not apply to fireplaces provided with tight fitting doors and a minimum of 24 square inches of outside combustion air supplied directly into the firebox, or to free-standing wood stoves provided with tight fitting doors and a minimum of 24 square inches of outside combustion air supplied in close proximity to the stove.

6-155 Enforcement, penalty for violations.
Any person violating any of the provisions of this code is guilty of an unclassified violation and upon conviction thereof shall be fined or imprisoned, or receive both fine and imprisonment, as provided for unclassified violations in the criminal code of the city. Each and every day during which any violation of any provisions of this code is committed, continued or permitted, shall be deemed a separate violation.
